DEATH OF MR. BERNARD COYLE.

The death is announced- of Mr. Bernard ("Barney") Coyle, who has for many years be«n a prominent figur© in the Turf world of tho Dominion. The late Mr. Coyle, who was not quite sixty years of age, was for many, years a wellknown trainer and owner of horses, and latterly he did a good deal of buying for various prominent racehorse > owners. Among th© deals . jvhich • were sffecUd through Mr. Coyle's agency was a sale of Waiuku to Mr. Spencer Gollan for 1200 guineas, and he also bought extensively for General Babington and Lord Ranfurly. The son of the late Mr. Patrick Coyle, of Auckland, a well known sporting man of his day, "Barney" had all his life been a keen judge of a horse, and his knowledge of breeding and racecourse law was probably scarcely equalled in th© Dominion. He was a brother of the late Mr. John Coyle, one of the first handicappere on this coast, and Mr. Herbert Coyle, the well-known formerday handicappei, is his nephew. Another nephew is Mr. Percy Coyle, of Feilding. The late Mr. Coyle had resided in. Palmerston North during the later years of his life, and was well known and respected as a "straight runner." His only other relation in New Zealand is a sister — Mrs. Sainsbury, of Auckland. The funeral will take place at Wellington to-morrow.
