WEDDING IN CHANNEL ISLANDS
NEW ZEALAND BRIDEGROOM. (From Our Own Correspondent.) • LONDON, 29th December. At 10 o'cloL-k on the morning of the 27th- December, the Church of St. Ann, Alderney, Channel Islands, was the scene of a wedding of considerable Now Zealand interest. The bridegroom was Mr. William Percival Gauvain, A.M. Inßfc., 0.E.: • M.LMech.E., Chief Engineer of the Waihi Gold Mining Company; N.Z., and son of tile late Mr. Wililam Gauvain, His Majesty's Receiver-General, and Mrs. William Gauvain, of Alderney. ■ The bride was Mieb Gladys May Gibbond, elder daughter of Mr. and Mru. John Gibbon*, of Val dcs Portes, Aldeiney. Tho ceremony was , performed by the Rev. John Le Brun, 8.D., Rector of St. Ann's, assisted by tho'RoV. Pedro Mesny, M.A. (cousin of the bridegroom), Rector of Cabtel, Guernsey. Mr. Gibbons -gave his daughter away. Her dreee was of white satin trimmed with chiffon and Bruseek lace. There were three bridesmaid*— Mica Evelyn Gibbons (sister of the bride), and the Missed May and Kitty Gauvain (sisters of the bridegroom). Their dresSeo were of ninon over pink eatin, with trimmings of marabout. Dr. H. J. Gauvain (brother of the bridegroom) fulfilled the duties of beßb man. I'he honeymoon is being apent in. Devonshire. .The bride's travelling outfit consisted of a dark blue coat and skirt, sealskin furs, and toque. On the Ist February Mr. and Mre. W. P. Gauvain will leave for New Zealand, travelling by way of Canada. Their home will be at WaJhl, Over a hundred presents were received, the dohoro including: Dr. J. Macintosh Bell (late Director of the Geological Survey of New Zealand) a-nd Mra. Bell, Dr. and Mrs. Dai-rick Robertson (Waihi), Mr. and Mi's. J. A. ThomeoA (W&ihi). Mr. Colin Eraser (late Mining Geologist to the New Zealand Government); Mr. J. Wen6ley Gray (late Waihi Gold Mining Company), all of whom are at present in England. Mr. Hubert Akef s and Mr. Henry Davey (secretary and Consulting Engineer respectively to, the Waihi Gold Mining Company).
