, TERMS OF AGREEMENT. COST TO FERRIES COMPANY: £800 A YEAR. The text of the agreement between the Wellington Harbour Ferries Company and the employees Is as follows :— < WAGES. Minimum rate of wages for firemen and deckhands : — Firemen, £3 per week j first and second deckhand, where three or more men are employed, £2 10s; others, £2. HOURS AND OVERTIME. The hours shall aot be more than ten per day (exclusive of meal hours) to be worked on' any *ix daysj of each week. Overtime to be paid at the rate of Is 3d fer hour for all time worked over ten ours between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., overtime between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. to be 2s per hour. For the purposes of this provision, work performed by the relieving shift shall not be classed a« overtime. MEALS. B»eh worker shall be allowed two intervals, not exceeding one hour each between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., and noon and S p.m. for meads, and no worker shall be required to work more than six hours without an opportunity for a meal. When a steamer is running continuously as in holiday time, mea are to be' allowed a sufficient time to take a meal on board, such time to be counted in the working, hours. ' When a steamer w being bunkered, and it is necessary .to trim coal ia the bunkers, it is agreed that such trimming, shall be paid lor at Wharf Labourers/ Union rates. NOTICE. Twenty-four hours' notice on ♦fthei' side shall be deemed to be sufficient notice to conclude- an engagement. This agreement shall operate from Ist February, 1912, and shall continue in force until 31st January, 1913. '/ It is estimated that the additional cost Ut th* company a« a result of the agreement will be in the neighbourhood of £800 per annum. In reply to a question as to whether it will be found necessary to increase the fares and freights to the bays, the manager, Mr. E. 6. F- Zohrab, refused to make a statement on this headj but he said that the whole position will be carefully considered by the directors at the next meeting, -which will take place at »n early date.
