Crawford^ for twenty-three years a missionary, gives harrowing 'details of the slave trade in Angola, the Portuguese possession in Lower Guinea. West Africa. Mr. Crawford was for sev'' eral years a prisoner of Mushidi, 'nicknamed the "Coloured Napoleon." Mushidi had 500 wives, including one white woman. He conquered many tribes, and there were executions daily of batches of men, wonien, and children. I Some Belgians finally shot Mushidi. v
