MR. H. B. IRVING'S SEASON.
* — r~ The management reports that although •there was a large demand for seats at the Dresden this morning', when th& plane were opened for the first cix 1 nights of Mr. H. B. Irving's season, the booking was 60 w&ll distributed that ' there ar& central seats available in both the dress circle and reserved stalk. The season opens on Saturday pight. Mr. Irving's representation of Hamlet is described as a portrait — a real human figure that is made all the more real and vivid by the colouring of the artist's own personality.' According to one writer it is a different Hamlet to all others, and were a dozen other actors to play the part' before Mr. Irving, the interest in this actor and his hold on the audience would in no degree lie lessened. Mr. H. B. Irving follows in the footeteps of his father in more than one direction. Not only is he keeping up the re'putaiion of the name by hia interpretations of the various characters he useumes, but he personally supervisee the plays in which he appears. Miae Dorothea Baird, who will be remembered as being the original Trilby in London, will make her debut here as Ophelia, her interpretation of which earned her much praiee from ' Australian critics. Mr. Henry Vibart, who appears as the Ghost, and Mr. Frank Tyars as King CJaudiua, both supported Sir Henry Irving in many of his triumphs, whilst the other members of the organisation were in the London casfc of "Hamlet." .
