The Methodist Times states that the Government must obtain a satisfactory declaration from the Eapncy whether the recent Papal decree is applicable to Ireland. • It i^ impossible to accept Archbishop' Walsh's- statement as the final word.. Arphbishop Walsh is reported to have stated that the new Papal decree pro/hibiting laymen from prosecuting priests in State Courts applied exclusively to a few countries where the clerical privilegium had not fallen into desueude. Presumably Ireland, lie said, woidd not be included.
