The funds of the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade will benefit to the' extent of considerably over £30 as a result of a. picture performance given afc The King George Theatre^ Lower Hutt, last evening. The building was orowded, and the programme appeared to be thoroughly enjoyed. During the evening, Captain Slinn, on behalf of the brigade, thanked the people very heartily for the manner in which they had responded. The funds had not been on too sound a. foot' injj for «oma thn* past, so they had ev«ry reason to be thankful to Mr. J. T. Hawthorn, who was hanaing over practically all the returns, for what he had done. That such a, crowd had attended wan a sure sign that the efforts of the brigade were being appreciated, and it was this spirit which induced the men to put more and more vigour and enthusiasm into their work.
