Details of the recent sensation at Lodz, Poland, show that the members of the band who fought the police, with the exception of a notorious robber named Batiaeeak, escaped. Banaseak barricaded himself in a garret, and kept the troops at bay for forty hours. Ho lived through machinegun fire, and the blowing up of the. house, and only died after the machinegun had again riddled the building. [A message received on th© 6th stated : "A band of men. barricaded themselves in a hou^e at Lodz, Russian Poland, and kept the police at bay for two hours'. Two thousand shots were exchanged. Several police and passers- by were wounded.]
