HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

Thp montlily meeting of the Wellington Hospital Committee of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Boattl was held at the board's rooms yesterday afternoon. There wpr& present Mr. R-. C. Kirk (in the chair), Tlevs. Vm Staveren and Evans, M-esws. Baldwin, Qodber, Trevor, Tompsitt, London, )?. T. Moore, and Gardener. Reference was Made to the death of Mr. W. H. Quick. Mr, Kilk moved that a letter of condolence and sympathy be sent to the family of the deceased gentlrman. Mr. Quick was for a number of years the legal adviser of the, board, and a vote of sympathy was passed, the members standing. Before proceeding to business the chairman, intimated that Mrs. Algar Williams had m&de a very generous gift to the Victoria H<*pital. This took the form of a very nandsome gramophone and a number of valuable records. A vote of thanks to the donor was earned unanimously. It wwar« r decided to recommend that a typist* be appointed to the hospital staff ab a salary of £75 per annum, her cervices to be used primarily by the medical superintendent, and also to be available for the house steward, matron, and dispenser in regard to Correspondence. Leave of absence was granted to Dm. Harty, Webster, and Holmes, on the honorary medical staff. The committee also decided to recom* j mend that an additional 10s a week be added to the wages of the gardener, messenger, and driver, when their present dwellings arc being demolished. A further recommendation was made to the board that the nursing staff should be increased by appointing six additional charge nurses at a salary of £60 per annum. Monthly accounts amounting to £3214 Oa 4d were passed for payment.
