( OTAKI, This Day. • A petition is in course of circulatien among the local natives askirtg tho Govetnntenfc to make a grant to tho Otaki Maori College tntstees to enable thorn to provide more adequate means for the edttc&tion of the Maori children hefc. The petition was mooted by Mr. > T. Bevati, seti., who has always taken * fatherly ihterest in the natives of this district. The Paf¶ufnu Biflo Club haß a oredit balance of £8 15s, which i< considered very satisfactory. Now that tho Great Estate has been cut into sections, Mr. J. Faith, of Pahiatua, will ercofc a gehoral shop at Te Moro^tho first of the kifid in the place. i It is understood that sevefal other buildings vS ill shortly be in coufss of orection.
