The order paper includes among the subjects for discussion: A proposal to pablisn a New Zealand journal in lieu of The Navy (tjais is said not to be favoured by the Wellington, Otago, and Southland branches) ; kinematograph film exchange ; establishment of some system of giving preliminary instruction in sea training to boys after school hours, <3ttch classes to act as feeders to Government training ship; need for shore depots and a larger veseel than the Amokura. 1 The question will also be discussed as to the desirablene&s of exempting from military service such \ouths as desire to take up a naval careet. The conference will be a?ked to approve of a recommendation — "That the formation of a New Zealand Royal Naval Reserve m necessary, and should b© established " ; and " that the Education Department be approached with a. view to modifying the school syllabi^ in the direction of providing for an increased knowledge of modern history being taught at the schools." Sii* Joseph Ward ha« be«n asked to open the coiiferfcnce. Sidney i« going to ha.ye a feast for eyes as well as for the cats (writes the Sydney Morning Herald). We are to see tbo opera "Sameson and Delilah" for the first time on tho stage; we are to se,e two magnificent Dehlahs— M&dame de Cisneroe and Mdlle. Voltmtas-Ran-zenberg—both women with more than the ordinary share of good looks ; and w« are to ccc come gorgeoue and most beautiful gowne worn by the two Dalilabs. Those who are lucky enough to ccc both performances will be interest' ed by the two artists' different ideas of Delilah's dress, for the costumes are very different in character- Madame de CieneroS, who appears in the first performance of ffi© opera on Tuesday night, went to the pictures in the Louvre for her inspirations, a-nd to Paquin, the great French modiste, who makes all her clothes, for their execution. The result of such collaboration is, as may be imagined, something very beautiful. For the first act there is a gown of palest pink crepe-de-chine, embroidered in deeper tones of rose, falling from the shoulders in straight majestic lines from a corsage of silver, and heavily embroidered at the hem with silver and rose; a tunic of crystal silver is caught to tho left side below the waist with a big bunch of pink roses, and lightly falling rose-petals garland the' gown from shoulder to knee. The whole effect is springlike and enchanting. For the second act the gown is of the palest blue crepe, made on the sftirio straight lines, and heavily embroidered at hem and corsage with silver and crys-tal. Over this gown a gorgeous coal is worn for the third act, a coat, of dark blue net, embroidered all over iv silks of Oriental cokmrs-~blues and rede and golds— *-a coat which, when Madame de Cisneros" slipped it on, brought all the grandeur and goi'geousag£g jfjhs J|g§t Mo hotel room^ . .
