ORPHANS' CLUB.

The Orphans' Club met on Saturday t?u^ 8 X n Sydney-street Schoolroom, thi "Moaf Orphan" • (Dr. Izard) • presiding Songs were contributed by Meeem Siet ??' v^ ie . Owen, M'Culloch, and Airey. ™?« Barker played a cornet solo. Mr. Hillyer gave, some lightning sketches, Mr. Oswin a recitation* and Mr. Girdlestone a .monologue. .The orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Herbert Bloy, capably perform&A some bright selections. Mr. Bloy himself gave some clever illustrations' of Chinese music, first playin* the airs of some well«knowfi folk songs and afterwards subjecting them to western treatment, and \ with admirable effect. The Orphans will visit Palmerston North on. lof.h September as guests of the Savage Club there, and on 23rd September the Ladies' Night will be held.
