I MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET- ! IJNG/ I A meeting of the Hutt Park Com« j mittee waa held at Intone laet evening. Mr. H. Baldwin (chairman) presided, and there were aleo preaent:— Messrs. M'Ewa-n, Brocklebank, M«»»kiil, and Barlow. The Wellington City Council wrote agreeing to supply water to the park buildings for fire-ptevention purposes in return tor the granting of facilities for tay4Ug the n«w me)ma through tho gronnd«. FINANCIAL. , The Hutt Valley Hockey Club forwarded a cheque for £2 2s for ground rent. Contributions were also received from th© Peton* and Lower Hutt Borough Councils. A statement prepared by the secretary, up to the 17th Auguat, showed that the finances 6f the committee w«re in fairly satisfactory condition. The credit balance on lot April wae £30 3s 4d, and the receipts since then had amounted to £136 12s 6d. The expenditure, including wages, hfed amounted to £126 Is Bd, leaving a credit balance of £40 14b Id. Th« asset* totalled £70 14s Id, and theee nviluded £W owing by tho Lower Hufct ik>rough Council. Accounts amounting to £1? 15s 4d were pa*BM( for payment. COMPENSATION WANTED. . Tlle Government's liability im connection with the revelations arising out of the recent survey wa« once more under discussion. The lette* from the depart* ment, denying that it was in &n$ way responsible, was again lead. Several members expressed th© opinion that tile department's attitude was a most unfair one. Mr. BaJdwin said that without the lea-st doubt the Government should compensate the committee for the expense incurred in altering" the boundary line. The new survey had t# be undertaken later thr#ugh a fault of the department in failing to nstify the committee regara« ing the re-tranefer of certain land. The cest had included £8 8s for & »ew pla.n, which was now usetau, And £1$ 17e solicitors' fees lor searching document* And titles. Mr. M'Ewan said that the full position eheulil be placed before the member fer ths district. "1 do iiot see how it (th« Government) can possibly escape liability," he concluded, after recalling the fact*. Mr. Barlow asked whether the committee would be put to any more expense in obtaining further plans, which would be necessary co as to dearly define the present boundaries. Th« chairmen, xephed that h« did not tnink so, if the committee would agree to abide by the survey made by one of the outeide parties t concerned. There should be no objection to following this course. Finally it was decided to inetrnct the secretary to write fo Mr. WilfoTd asking him to use his best endeavours to have a Bum placed on the Estimates sufficient to reimburse the committee, the letter to be followed by a personal interview by the chairman.
