■ ■ i"»i ■ "JACK AND THE BEANSTALK." The season of "Jack and the Beanstalk" will be brought to a close this evening. Last night there was a large audience, which listened with amusement and interest to the dialogue and songs, and laughed at the antics of the Pantzets, and the cow, and the donkey, and Dame Trot. To-night the "curtain will go up at 7.40 o'clock, as the company leaves for Lyttelton at midnight. TO-NIGHT'S ORGAN ft-ICITAL. Mr. Maughan Barnett's weekly orga^t recit&ls will be resumed to-aight, wh*,n the programme will contain Mtndsls.sohn^s "War March of the Prieste" ("Athalie"), Wagner's Spinning Chorus ' from "Tannhauser," and Bach's Prelude and t'ugae in C-mmor. An important composition by the celebrated organist, C. M. Widor, from the Organ Symphony No. 4 (Aftdaate Cantabile, Scherzo, and finale) is also included. "THE CHANOEOF 4 LIFETIME." Th« scenery for the first production of Nat Gould's sporting drama, "The Chance of a Lifetime/ has already arrived at the Opera House, and a fctaff of stage mechanists has been engaged to have everything in readiness for the opening performat.c* on Monday flight. A special feature of the drama is the racecourse scene. This chows the start and finish of a race, and altogether the incident is said to be very exciting. Mr. Andetson's company is headed by Miss Lilian Lloyd and Mr. Walter Dalgleish. THE ENGLISH PIERROTS. It is announced to-day that that clever combination of entertainers, "The jfing* iish Pierrots," will play a farewell seasoil of three nights at the Town rfall Concert Chamber. The delightful entertainments given by the Pierrots at the Exhibition are not forgotten, and the public will no doubt welcome th© Teturn of Mr. Mayna-rd Dakin in his comic ditties and Miss Elsa Langley, the cbaraing toubredte. The season commences on Thursday night, and His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) will ibe present at the first per* formanee. The bos plans are, now open at the Dresden. theatrTroyal. The Theatre Royal was well filled last evening when Fuller's Vaudeville Company presented a very attractive entertainment. There will be an efltireJt new programme on Monday, intr> ucing some attractive turne. THE NBw"THSATRE. The aew programme at The New Theatre drew large audiences all day yesterday and last night. As already noted, the selection of films is an excellent one, and of wide variety. They will be show*? sntil 11 o'clock to-night. SIS MAJESTY I ? THEATRE. " Making an Aeroplane," as illustrated by biograph at His Majesty's Theatre, gives one an excellent idea, of how these flying machines are made. Altogether the present programme ifr an entertaining ofte. THE KING'S THEATRE. "East Lynne " is one of the attractions at The King's Theatre. Last night's performance was given as & benefit to the Wellington Fox Terrier Club. Th« programme will be repeated tonight. - STyIR PICTURE*}. The current programme by the Star Picture Company will be shown for the last time to-night. A complete change will be made on Monday. KILBIRNIE™iiACH RINK. Throughout the week each session at the Kilbirnie Beach Itink has been well attended. Last evening a hockey § match was played, the rink team defeating th© "Warriors by five goals to flfl. MISS PETERSEN-S CONCERT. Mied Thelma Petereen's concert will take place on Monday. 11th September, in the Conceit, Chamber of the Town Hall, Tie movement fdr the farther training of this young New Zealand contralto, is receiving generous support, a large number of tickets having already been disposed of. KING GEORgFpICTURES. The management of the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, announces that pictures of Cardinal Moran's funeral in Sydney, last Sunday, will be shown on Monday , evening/ next. The remainder of the programme will be up to date. The Church of Christ, Vivian-street, Literary Society will hold an "Evening with Shakespeare" on Tuesday next. An entertainment will be held in St. Thomas's Hall, on W«dnesday'and Thursday evenings, Oft Wednesday Mr. HewaTd, of V.M.C.A., and a squad of ladies will contribute to the programme, and on Thursday Mr. Garnet Sims ahd hi«; papils will provide an item.
