KETCH GANNET, FROM KAPITI. The ketch Gannet, which berthed afc the Wool Wharf yesterday, made a smart run of eight hours from Kapiti Island. The little vessel cook a cargo of timber and general cargo from Nelson to Kapiti Island. From there she came in ballast to Wellington to load jarrah for Nelsoft. The ketch la a, staunch and trim little craft of 25 tons, and is commanded by Captain R. Goldie. tt is three years since the Gannet was last afc Wellington, and for some time after her arrival in the stream at Wellington she Was taken for the Argus. Shakespeare is to have a good innings in the Concert-room of the Town Hill on 23rd October. Membets of the Auckland Shakespeare Club are to come down in force to interpret "Twelfth Night." It is probable that the Auckland visitors will submit one of Bernard Shaw's .pteys here on 24th October. The weekly meeting of the Star of Wellington Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held in the Mission Hall, Tar&naki'Street, on Thursday evening. Bro. Rigarlaford, C.T., presided over a fair attendance of members and visitors. A "Sentence Building Competition " was won by Bro, Wyee, and another competition on "Brothers" was won by Bro. G. Weston. Tho evening was arranged by Sisters Bidrnead and Rigarlsford, Next meeting will be a "Transposition Bee," in charge of Bro. Wyee. The anniversary services in connection with the Kent-terrace Presbyterian Sun-day-school will be celebrated to-morrow in the church. The morning service will be conducted by Rev. T. Keith Bwen, of Berhampore. In the afternoon a special service will be conduoted by Rev. A. C. W. Standage, of Kelburne. The Rev. J. K. Elliott, B A., .rill occupy tlje pulpit at the evening seftice. The seme© of praise will be led by a choir of child tea, and the collections will go to the~~ support of the Sunday-School. On Tuesday next a tea and entertainment will take place. A special "sisterhood" day at the Wellington City Men's Brotherhood will be celebrated to-morrow afternoon at The New Theatre, with a programme supplied by ladies.
