DEATH OF J. W. BRAITHWAITE
INQUEST AT THE HOSPITAL. At the ttoepitaj yesterday afternoon Dr. M' Arthur, coroner, held an inquest concerning the death of Mr. J. W. Braithwaite, who ehot himself with a revolver in his office at the City Anc* tion Mart, Mannems-etreet, yesterday morning. Dr. Henry gave evidence that he was called .to the mart shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday, when he foftnd deceased ift practically a dying condition. On examining deceased, a bullet wound was found in hia head behind th« Tight «ar. A revolver was lying on the floor, and the wound appeared to have been self* inflicted. Deceased wae removed to the Hospital, where he died at 11.30 ».m., without having recovered consciousness. > Evidence similar to statements published in yesterday's Poet wae given by Goorge Heggtrry, Sergeant Kelly, Mm. Braithwaite, and Dr. Hardwick Smith. The Verdict was that deceased had died from a wound self-inflicted while temporarily of unsound mind.
