Owing to the hot weather, the London death rate last week was 537 above the Average. The number of infants under two years of age who succumbed was 629. The weekly average infantile mortality prior to the heat wave wae 18 per 1000. The general death rate in 77 great towns corresponded with the annual rate — 20.9 feet 1000, as compared with 13.6 per 1000 three weeks previously.
