A HARBOUR INCIDENT.
CLAIM AGAINST FERRY COMPANY SUCCEEDS. Dr. M 1 Arthur, S.M., gave reserved judgment to-day in the case in which c V. BlandfoTd, clerk, Wellington, claimed from the Wellington Harbour Ferries Ltd., the sum of. J328 18s damages to clothing, etc., and £150 on account of Bftock and damage to health. The action arose out of an incident on the ferry steamer Admiral on the evening of the 15th of July, 1911, plaintiff alleging that owing to defendant's negligence the vessel's railing was left open, and as a result he fell overboard. Mt. Meredith appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Hislop for defendants. The Magistrate held that the opening was exposed too soon, and that there was no evidence of contributory negligence on the part of the plaintiff. Jndgment was given plaintiff tor £18 3s special dafliag£s, ahd £30 on account of shock to health, with costs. Security for appeal was fixed at £10 10s.
