FIRES IN THE CITY. '

.The Fire Brigade received a call at 10.57 this morning to 92, Abel Smithstreet, where, a 1 ten-roomed boarding house, occupied by Mrs. Alice Quig and owned by Mr. W. H. Short, was discovered to be ablaze. Two rooms and a passage were badly damaged, while the rest of the building suffered from heat and smoke. The building was insured ia the Phoenix office for £660, and the contents m the Alliance for £100. The wail of the adjoining house, No. 94, was 'also atteeted. The fire was caused by a defective chimney. _An , outhouse on the Clyde-quay dock Bite was destroyed by fire this morning.
