At the meeting t>f the Canterbury College Board of Governors to*d&y, reference was made by the chairman (Mr. 3. 0. Ad&m6) to the death of Mr, Taylor. Mr. Adams said that Mr. Taylor had occupied the positioft of Mayor for so short a time that it was not possible to say very much e*cept that lie- promised to throw into the mayoral work the vsame energy and enthusiasm which h-s threw into *11 the work he undertook. • The late Mr. Taylor was a matt who stood out a-rnolrg his felloW-men. He had certain qualities which endeared t him. to many. One of thoee qualities Undoubtedly was his desire to uplift humanity, and the ma-n devoted his energies in trying to uplift his fellow-matt was a great beftefactor. ThVt was One of the duties Mr. Taylor put before him, and in many ways he was: successful. He was a man of deep <Jonvictkffl& and high ideals, and when he believed he Was on the right path he had that courage of his convictions that would admit of no compromise. He would move I—"That1 — "That this board places on record its profound regtfet at the death of the late Mayor, ahd offers to his family its deepest sympathy 1 with them in their sad bereavement." _ The motion was seconded by Mr. Opie, and carried in silence, the members sta-riding.
