DISMANTLING.

ACTIVITY AT THE EXHIBITION BUILDINGS. From early morning, possibly to "dewy eve" the -work of pulling down, packing up, and carting away is going on at the Exhibtion. Van after van is driven up at one of the many door», and van after van. is driven away loaded. Considering the few hours men have been at work a wonderful clearance has been dJedsed. By 11 o'clock | the great "Pefcme" stall of woollens and clothtng, for example, was bare and its demolition proceeding. Everything is going on smoothly and quickly, exhibitors and selling stallholders working as if a tremendous penalty weT& hanging over their hea.ds for delay. The theatre is coming down piecemeal, and by the time these notes are read it will riot exist. Great packing cases filled with clocks, tinned meats, ale bottles (empty) and millinery ate leaving the Exhibition by Various doors. Mr. Partridge, a member of the executive, told a Post reporter to-day that there had been remarkably little pilfetifig, and wherever it had taken place it might be due in some instance to want of vigilance on the part of exhibitors^ Some articles had gone astray, but their value in the aggregate was nominal, Orders for the clearing out of exhibits were "full speed ahead" and by ,to-morrow morning a great change fcfiould be seen in the buildings. \ The annex will go, also its great stairways wilhin and withont. The Stadium id being rapidly clearred up and before week ia out both .T and U buildings will become wool sheds again.

Following is the result of ths two mile race tfecided at> ihe Eilbirnie Rink on Saturday night:— E. Young (j?er) 1, R. Harris 2, A. Afcher 3. Mr. Jae. Goer, _ bootmaker, Majofibanks^street, advertises that he will pre*sent to each cash customer a fountain pen. * _ The first sitting of the Royal Cominiß- . sion on Mine* will be held in Wellington on 3rd August.
