COURSING.
T WELLINGTON METROPOLITAN. An afternoon for local coursers was held at the Wallaoeville , enclosure on Saturday, under the auspices of the Wellington Metropolitan Club. The attendance was small, but the weather was perfect and some good trials weTe recorded. In the Winter Stakes ths owners agreed to divide. In the deciding course of the Burke Stakes Kilfilem led by two lengths to a racing hare but, once in, Raffles' worked very cleverly indeed. The hare keeping out from the escapes an exciting trial was seen, but Raffles was a fair winneT when puss reached cover. Mr. A. J. Parsons acted as judge, and Mr. Donoghue as slipper. Results- are as follow :-» Winter Stakes.— -Middtemarsh beat Given Days (2), Headlight beat Czarina 11. (5), Tara beat Presentation (9), Captain Starlight., beat The Leader (5). Firs-t Ties: Headlight beat Middlemarch (7), Tara beat Captain Starlight (3). Deciding Course : C. Shaw's Headlight (The Sailor-— Nightfall) arid Mason and Stewart's Tara (Rex—Flo) divided the stake. Burke Stakes.-«*Hafiies beat Royal Artillery (1), Ruberoid beat Kilfilem (1). Deciding Coutsb : J. Higgins' (ns) Raffles (Battleaxe— Ganger's Gift) bsat J. Brosnan's Kilfilem (Tolstoi~Gertie (4), and won the etake.
