A AND B TRIAL GAME.
CHANGES IN THE REPRESENTS TIVES. Saturday afternoon was devoted to an A and B trial match, after which the selector, Mr. H. V, Walton, who returned from a business trip to Hawkes Bay for that especial purpose, choee the team to defend the shield against Auckland on 12th August. The play wae not exceedingly brilliant, but there were some pretty patches of real colour during the afternoon, and Mr. Walton did not appear to have much difficulty in liis choice, which can only be deecribed as satisfactory. The A team showed a. general superiority, and won by 4 goals to nil.' Other result* were as under s«— JUNIOR. At Duppa-street, Greggs were defeated by Government Life after a very etea game by 3 goals to 2. M'Clintock (2), and Wright scored for Government Life, while Lawrence scored both goals for Greggs. Mr. Howell refereed. Wesley (i) beat Y.M.CA. (1). E\ Strack (2), Fauvell, and Bennett scored for Wesley^, and, Penney for V.M.C.A. By drawing with Ck>hege A, United must win the Junior Chainpionehip. Tb« figures were 2 all. Cl*pfion and Palmer scored for United, and Griffiths and Reid for College. Hutt beat X. Y.M.I, at the Hntt by 6 goals to 2. For Hutt, Judd, Webley, and Mabey scored 2 goals each. For K.Y.M.1., Rands (2) found the net. Mr. S. M'Dowall controlled the game. Metropolitan defeated Victoria College at Miramar by 10 gode to 3. Scorers for Metropolitan were W. Mul* doon (6), Kitehing, Ererton, Robertson, and J. Muldoon i ea«h. THIRD-CLASS. St. Marks defeated Wesley by 8 goals to nil. S. Tandy (6), Hutse* (2), and Ferguson scored. Government Insurance (2) beat Wellington (0).
