HELEN DENNY'S ARRIVAL. The barque Helen Denny arrived in ptn yesterday from Newcastle after a protracted but uneventful voyage from Newcastle of "2 days. She was sighted some miles off Sinclair Head, and Was taken in tow by the tug Muribai shortly after 3 p.m. when off Island Bay. She dropped anchor in the stream at 5,45 p.m. Pratique was granted this morning, and the barque berthed at the Railway Wharf about 2,30 o'clock this afternoon. The master (CaptAin S. Holm) reports that her slow progress was due to adverse Winds, not that they wefe Very boisterous! The prevailing wind was east to sotlth-east, and from last Tu&sday to Friday the Helen Denny was .sheltering in the Vicinity of D'Urville Islaad. Her cargo comprises 1070 tons of coal, ofl consignment to the Gc-vernmerit Railways. After discharging, she will take ballast to Hokianga, and there load timber for Sydney. From the latter port she will proceed to Newcastle to load coal again for Wellington. She should 'be back here again ill about three months' time. WARRIMOO LEFT SYDNEY, This Week's boat from Sydney-~the War* rimoo— left that port at noon on Saturday, and should arrive a* Wellington early on Wednesday morning. She is bringing 130 passengers for all ports. Mr. W. Williams is now mate on the bafque Helen, Denny in Succession to Mf. MaJone, who has joined the Bteamer Bentinck as second mate. Steady progress is being made at Hie ship, building yards, Auckland, of Mr. C, Bailey, jun., with the constntction of the new ferri, steamer for the Devonport Ferry Company, and it is anticipated that the new steamer will be tfeady for the water by the end of October. Ah order has been placed with Mr. BaHey by an Auckland syndicate for the construction of a steamer 145 ft in length, With a beam of 26ft, but owing to the want of space a start will not -be maflc with his construction of this vessel until the ferry steamer is launched.
