Coiuispl proceeded to discuss the real question at issue— -whether the council has power to reduce the width ot the road from 09ft to 66ft? Mr. Maitin and Mr. Young supportefl tho couiKiTß implication, but Mr. Salmond and Mr. Chapman held that by the procedure adopted, (he council could not wholly depth c property-holders of their frontage,, but it was not contends! that a stree^ could never be diminished under any circumstances by any procp-riui-e.
