The Constituent Assembly, by 81 votes to 76, has resolved on the suppression of all decorations and Orders, A Constituent Assembly, organised on 19th June with 192 deputies, ratified the Government's edict formally proclaiming the republic of Portugal, the abolition of tha monarch j , and th«» prescription of the Braganza dynasty. The proceedings pa-bseu off without .special in.' cident. So far ac can be ascertained, this news was not cabled to New Zealand. Two da^s later, the assembly elected Setihor Ansmelo Braamcanip, President of the Republic.
