MILITARY DISPLAY. KEEN CONTESTS. . j There was a largo attendance at the Stadium last evening at the military display and competition. Tho keenest interest was manifested in the contests. A first-aid display by tho Boys' Institute and Petoiio Troops of Boy Scouts under thoir patrol leaders, showed plainly the advantage by our young lads m .being members of these two interesting and valuable bodies. Bayonet fighting and arm drill by A Company (late City Rifles), 6th Reginiont, Wellington Rifles, under ColourSergeant Davis, followed. Thiß was a very good dieplay of military training. The Maxim gun drill by the machine gun section, 6th Regiment^ under Lieutenant Simeon, attracted great attention, and showed that memW 'of thin corps had attained a high degree of efficiency. TUG-OF-WAR. Fitsb Round — No. 3 Company Garrison Artillery pulled H.M.S. Cambrian;' B Company City Guard B pulled College Rifles; Heretaunga Mounted Rifles pulled Engineers; IOIIS. Pioneer pulled Civil Service ■ Rifles. Second Round.— No 8 Company Garrison Artillery pulled B> Company City Guards; Heretaunga Mourfted Rifles pulled H.M.S. Pioneer ' Final.— Mounted Rifles pulled Gafrison Artillery. Lieut. M'Farlane, of tho Boy' Scouts, was judge, BRIDGE BUILDING. Exhibitions of bridge building were given by squads of the Petone and Kelburne troops oi Boy Scouts, under Scoutmasters Browne and La-wson. The work was neatly done, and elicited loud anplaUse from the spectators.
