ISLAND BAY SWIMMING CLUB.
— +. Therfirst annual 'social" of the Island Bay Amateur Swimming Club was held this week at the Berhampore Masonic Hall. Trophies were presented by Mr. Hindmarsh, the club's president, to the following members :—: — Misses. E. Milter, E. Harper, M. Mountier, A. Tonkin, and M. Collins, and Messrs. G. T. Smith, Collins, Hinds, King, and Greville. Mr. G. S. Hill, president of the Wellington Centre, was present, and suggested that the City Council be- approached with a request that a cement wall should, if possible, be constructed to break the force of the water during southerly storms, as tho club could not expect the council to erect baths at Islana Bay at the present time. The toast of "Success to the Island Bay Swimming Club" was proposed by Mr. C. Perry, hon. secretary, and carried by acclamation. The toast of "The Ladies of the Club," was proposed by Mr. G. Beckett, and replied to by Mr. Purvis.
