TRAIN SERVICE. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— Being a frequent traveller on the late train from Palmerston North ,to Wellington, I desire to bring under the notice of the authorities ■ the fact that this- particular train is hardly ever guilty ot running to time. It is due, according to the time-table, to arrive at Thorndon at 10.45 p.m., which should permit residents of the outlying districts—*uch as Kilbirnie, for instance — to catch the last car home. Owinf to the failure of the authorities; however, \to run to time-table, the tram service, of the City Council is rendered absolutely useless for the very good reason that the last ca t - for the tunnel has invariably left before the train pute in an appearance, or, at all events, before a. passenger can "have time to reach tho Lambton terminus whence the cars depart. Can the railway authorities give any substantial reason for their inability to run the trains to time? If not, could the City Council possibly seoita way to delay the last tunnol car until the, arrival of the said, refractory train.— l. am, etc., TRAVELLER. Wellington 12th May, 1911.
