Only a vei'y small proportion of the prospective beneficiaries under the Work, men s Pensions Act have registered themselves as the law directs. This is owing to the Socialists endeavouring to wreck the measure on the ground that the contributory share to be paid by the workmen is too largo and the ago of sixty-five at which the pensions begin is too high.
