The newspapers here are surprised at the statement made l»y tho North German Gazette (the semi-official organ of I the German Government) to the effect that an official warning had been issued to France regarding the consequences that might follow any wrong action she might take in Morocco. It is pointed out that no mention of such a case as the present one is made in the Franco-German Agreement of 1909, which was based on Germany' 6 entire political disinteressment in Morocco. I The French - contend that in sending troops to the relief of Fez France is I only attempting to effect consolidation, t order, and internal peace. RELIEVING COLUMNS. BENI HASSAN REBELS LEAVE FOR THEIR HOMES. TANGIER, 3rd May. The Beni Hassan rebels, on hearing it-hat the relieving column was approaching Fez, returned homewards, and drove off many of the Sherada tribesmen's cattle. Inter-tribal fighting followed.
