Labour members of the House of Commons and trade union delegates are informally conjferringj with a view to amalgamating the Labour Parliamentary Party, tho Trade Union Congress, and the General Federation of Trade Unions, in order to abolish overlapping of the three organisations and effect economy in administration, while strengthening the* Labour Party 'throughout the country. SYDNEY WHARF LABOURERS. AGREE TO HANDLE CEMENT. SYDNEY, 3rd May. 'The wharf labourers, at a largely-at-tended meeting, decided to handle cement in paper-lined bags, sewn in a dust-proof manner, if they -were paid threepence an hour extra. This paves the way for the signing of an inter-State agreement. , Shipping circles are relieved at the decision. THE" CAMBRIAN DISPUTE. OWNERS AGREE TO A CONFERENCE. LONDON, 3rd May. The coal owners of South Wales have declined the Miners' ( Federation's proposal that the Cambrian dispute bo referred to arbitration, on the ground that -this is opposed to the fundamental principle of the Conciliation Board. The owners have agreed to a conference of four members from each side to consider a settlement of the dispute.
