In connection with alleged financial and administrative irregularities in tho cash accountancy department of the French Foreign Office, into which a searching enquiry wa6 recently held, and as a result of which M. Haanon, Director of the Accounts Department, wa6 suspended, Hamon admits misappropriating moneys. He pleads that the system has long beeh recognised in the Foreign Office, and that several officials are drawing increased pensions as the result of the falsification of decrees, promoting them to higher grades.
