UNIVERSITY REFORM. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— With regard to the resolution to which the Chancellor of the University (Sir Robert Stout) refers as "minuted" by the. UniVersity Reform Association, let me state,- in justice to tho association, that the resolution in question is to be found, not in the minutes of the Reform Association, but in those of .a committee of the Professorial Board, dealing with tho question of University reform some time prior to*the inauguration of what is publicly known as the University Reform Association. At that time various suggestions in. connection with reform o£ the examination system were considered, and it is 'true that the board at that *>arly stage in its reform deliberations rejected the idea of a joint board of examiners, mainly because of its entertaining the idea that the Professorial Boards of the other colleges were not likely to agree to such a scheme. It was, however, soon discovered that not a few of> the members of tho professorial staffs of the other colleges were of opinion that, so far at least as pass degrees were concerned, such joint boards as were contemplated were feasible. At any rate the Reform Association is .in no way responsible for the minute referred to by Sir Robert, and I am sorry that he should be labouring under a misapprehension in this connection. — I am, etc., "HIS INFORMANT." ■ 29th April. A million germs woke up one day, Intent on journeying miles away; Cough, ccjlcl, and fever, asthma, too, These germs were named by those who know ; And people grew so much alarmed, Thoy realised they might be harmed;, But all at once the germs fell dead, They'd met Woods' Peppermint Cure, 'tis said.— -AjdvW
