HINTS FOR THE ELECTORS.
HOW TO ASSIST THE RETURN-! ING-OFFICER. j "The arrangements made for the polling on Wednesday next," said the! returning-officer, Mr. Ames, to a Post reporter, "are sufficient to record the 28,970 votes on the roll if the electors will only observe and assist in carrying out a few suggestions." Here are the suggestions :—: — 1. The electors should before going to the poll make up their minds whom they are going to vote for, and not wait until they get to the booth. This will save a lot of time, and will permit of tho ballot papers being dealt with quickly. 2. It would save time if electors would give the Returning-Ofncer their full names and situation (without being asked the several questions) as soon as they enter the booth. It would also assist very much if voters could give the number opposite their name on the roll. 3. It would be well if the women would kindly record their votes during the morning or afternoon; it woald allow the men more time when .leaving work. At the last election hundreds of ■women -were flocking to the booths at 5 and 6 o'clock. The result was a block at the several booths. 4. There "will be three ballot papers — • white for city councillors, blue for members of the Harbour Board, and yellow for tW -weekly half -holiday. Not more than fifteen X'& for city councillors, four for members Harbour Board, and one for Hob weekly half-holiday. At the same time a voter may vote for less than the number of candidates required in each case. It is not necessary to strike out the names of those not voted for — it takes time and serves no purpose. The Town Hall will be the principal polling place. There will be more conveniences for voting than at the smaller booths, and the electors are requested to ] record there, if convenient. j
