TELEGRAMS. MEAT TRUST.
NOT WANTED IN SOUTH AMERICA. [El TSLKGBAPH— SWK3IAL 10 TUB POST.} AUCKLAND, This Day. Some inteiest was created recently regarding the reported operations of the American meat trusts in the Argentine, but according to Mr. F. K. Cassell3, of Buenos Aires, the trust has not gained control of tho meat trade, nor is likely to do so. One of the large meat chilling businesses, known as "La Blanclia. ' which was founded by Argentine capital, has bean purchased by an American firm. "The meat trusts are not feared in the Argentine." said .Mr. Casselis. "The Republic is not' so socialistic as New Zealand, but the people do not like, monopolies, and- the- Americans . would have to be exceedingly astute to secure control of the meat exportation of the Argentine. 'If there was anything lika an American trust established in the country the people of the Argentine would immediately subscribe sufficient capital to break it down."
