PERSONAL MATTERS.
The Hon. A. Ngata left thia morning for Hawkes Bay. Mr. J. R. Palmer, Town Clerk, resumed his duties to-day. Mr. Arthur Hcby, of Wellington, is j ti present on a visit to his brother at New Plymouth. There is a slight improvement in the condition of Mr. F. H. Bradey, who has been confined to his room for bho past few weeks. The Mayor of Wellington (Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.), who is spending the holidays in tho Marlborough Sounds, will return to Wellington on Thursday morning. Sir James Mills and Lady Mills left Dunedin. by the Monowai yesterday for Wellington. Bishop Vefrdon was a passenger for Auckland by the same steamer. Mr. S. A. Hetherington, president of the Thames Chamber of Commerce, and Mrs. Hetherington, leave by the Arawa to-morrow on an extended tour through England and the Continent. A Press Association telegram states that two old Greymouth identities died laet night — Mr. Evan Evans, aged 91, formerly in the employ of the Greymouth gasworks, and Mrs. G. Blackmore. Mr. A. S. le Souef, secretary of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales, is arriving by the Warrimoo this afternoon, to inspect and report upon the Wellington Zoo to the Wellington City Council. Mr. J. V. Brown, M.P., chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, announced at yesterday's meeting of the board that he did not intend to seek re-electioa (states a Press Association , telegram). Mr. Brown has been a member since 1899, and chairman since 198 L The board voted .him £50 with which to pwrchaso a memento.
