RIFLE SHOOTING.

The third annual meeting of the Hawkes Bay Rifle Association concluded on Monday. In the shoot-off for the Champion Belt (presented by Mr. W. Lane, of Hastings) the two highest aggregate scorers in the Hastings, Napier, Waipawa, and Dannevirke matches, Corporal Given (Wellington City Rifles) and Sergeant Joplin (Wellington Civil Service Rifles), put on 10 and 11 respectively at the 1000 yards range, Sergeant Joplin thus winning the belt. Both the winner and the runner-up receive gold medals. The Bone Cup, presented by Mr. F. L. Bone (Hastings) for the highest scorer in the Waipawa and Dannevirke matches, w&s won by Sergeant Joplin (Wellington), whose aggregate score waa 149.
