There" was glorious weather and a very large attendance at Randwick to-day for the opening day of tho Australian Jockey Club's autumn meeting. The following are the results': — First Hurdle Race, a handicap sweepstake of 6 soys each, with 300 soys added. About two miles. — Boyong, 6yrs, 9.10, 'l ; Nimrod, 9.10, 2 ; EnniEmar, 11.7, 3. There /were thirteen, starters. • Boyong won by ten lengths. Time, 3min 44Jsec. Autumn. Stakes, a sweepstake of 10 boys each, with 1000 soys added. Weight-for-age. ' One mile and a half. — Comedy King, 4yrs, 8.7, 1; Trafalgar, 9.3, 2; Lady Medallist, 8.12, 3. There were seven starters. Lady Medallist led into tho' straight, but Comedy King overhauled, her below the Leger. Trafalgar joined issue, and in a good race- koznu Comedy King won by three-quarters of a length, with Lady Medallist foar lengths away third. Time, 2min 33|sec. A.J.C. SIRES' PRODUCE STAKES, a sweepstake of 10 soys each, and a subscription of 10 soys each, from owners of sires nominated, with 1000 soys added. For tv/o-year-olds. Seven furlongs. Messrs. P. and W. Mitchell's br c Gillamatong, by Challenger (imp.) t Grand Canary, 8.10 1 Mr. F. Merton's Borrosov, 8.7 -..,, 2 Mr. D. O'Brien's Respect, 8.7 .... 3 There were twelve starters. Borrosov acted as pilot until well into the straight. Gillamatong, on the outside, shot to the front at the half distance, and won by a length and a half. Respect was a j length further away. Smith) 3 Twenty-seven others also started. There -was a long delay at the post. After settling down, the places were Grist and Broadsword in charge from Miss Corelli, Sunlike, and Lager, with the others in, a heap. • At the six furlong post, Broadsword and Grist still showed the way, with Sir, Lawrence next. A little further on Lager dashed out, and led at the half-mile two lengths clear of Gold Thread, Broadsword, and Bright Xiaddie. Rounding the bend Lager was a length clear of Gold Thread, Broadsword, Royal Merv, Miss Corelli, and Blight Laddie. Lager was first into the straight, but below the distance Gold Thread and Blight Laddie showed most prominently from Broadsword, Miss Corelli, and Flavinius. At tho halfdistance Broadsword came again, with Sunlike in his wake. After a desperate racs, Broadsword won by three-quarters cf a length, with Flavinius half a length off. Then came Mks Corelli, Bright Laddie, Gold Thread, and Royal Merv. Time, Imm 58^-sec, a record for the race, j beating tlief previous- best of Storey and ! Hyman by a quarter of a second. j A.J.C. ST. LEGER, a sweepstake of 10 i soys each, with 750 soys added. For three-year-olds. One- mile and threequarters. Messrs. J. C Williamson and A. Mansfield's br c Cadonia, rby Prudent King (imp.). — Enooma, 8.10 1 ZNfangar, 8.10 2 Aurofodina, 8.10 • . . 3 • Cadonia coming with a great run won by two lengths from Nangar, with half a neck between second and third. Time, 3min 4|sec. High-Weight Handicap, a sweepstake of 8 eovs each, with 400 soys added. Six furlongs. — Burston,' 4yrs, 9.1, i ; Hot Air, 8.7. 2; Volsloane, 3.11, 3. Therewere twenty-five starters. Won by a length.' Time, lmin Msec. HEAVY TRACK FOR TO-DAY. SYDNEY, 16th April. There has been steady rain since raidnight, and it continues, making an altered outlook for to-morrow's racing. Already sufficient rain has fallen to deaden the tracks.
