The heavy rain which fell early in I the afternoon made it necessary to stop [ play for an hour, and as a consequence of this delay the tournament will be resumed on Monday morning, when the bemi-finaji of tho lion's Doubles and one match in the first round of the Ladies' Doubles will be started. On tho first day's play Cantorbury College leads ,with eight wins, Otago University and Victoria College each having three, and Auckland University Collego two. Results: — Men's Championship Singles. — First round : Partridge (Otago) beat Johns (Auckland), 6—l, 3-6, 6—3. T. D. Smith (Canterbury) boat D. S. Smith (Victoria College), 6—3, 6—o. Parker (Victoria College) beat White (Otago), 6—l, 6—o, Jennings (Canterbury) beat Robcrtshawo (Auckland), 6—l, 6—l. Mon's Championship Doubles. — First round: Beamish and Seymour (Canterbury) beat Bruco Scott and Campbell (Auckland), 4—6,4 — 6, 6—4,6 — 4, 6—4. Parker and Taylor (Victoria College) beat White and Hudson (Ctago), 6—4, 6—4. Robershawo and Marshall '(Auckland) boat Partridge and Hamilton (Ocago), 6—3,6 — 3, 6—4. Jennings and Smith (Canterbury) beat Smith and Cleghorn (Victoria), 5—6,5 — 6, 6—l, 6—o. Ladies' Championship Singles. — First round: Miss Farnie (Otago) beat Miss M'Ehvain (Auckland), 9—5. Cumming and N. A. Campbell (Auckland) beat Sliss D. Jameson and D. Seymour (Canterbury), 6—4, 6—4.6 — 4. Miss B. D. Cross and L. S. Jennings (Canterbury) beat Miss J. Scott and D. S.
