SWIMMING ASSOCIATION.
WELLINGTON BRANCH. The Wellington Branch of tho Now Zealand Amateur Swimming Association met last night, there being prefsont: — Messrs. G. B. Hill (in the chair), G. Neal, T. Shields, W. G. Morpeth, E. J. Fleming, R. Baker, C. W. Blick, and F. Wilton. A request from the Lyall Bay Surf Club for a donation of £10 10s from the humane funds of the association was left over for next meeting. The Wellington Professional Orchestra forwarded an account for £8 5s % for music provided at tho recent New Zealand Championships. The chairman complained that the number of men in the orchestra was too small and tho music was poor. Other members agreed, and tho matter was left in tho hands of the chairman. The New Zealand Association informed the meeting that with reference to the Wellington Centre's application for the following record certificates: C. Brice, Wellington, 100 yards, 63seo and 63 l-5soo; and M. B. Champion, Auckland, 220 yards, 2min 39aeo, one mile 25min 18sec, and 880 yards, 12miu 16 3-ssec, that Brice's 100 yards record of 63seo and Champion's mile record had not been allowed, owing to the height of the plunge being over three feet. The letter added that the other records had been passed, and that certificates .would arrive in due course.
