General Williams, leader of a band of American rebels, attacked the Federal troops five miles south of Mexicali. The rebels were defeated, leaving eighty dead on the field. Williams was mortally wounded by a fragment of a shell. Looted stores were recaptured by the Federals. General Madero, the insurgent leader, at the head of sixty thousand men, has started for the Casa Grande region, where a battle is expected. The Chamber of Deputies has voted four million dollars to suppress the insurrection.
