HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT Tho Commerce and Tourists Division •of the Department of Agriculture, 'Coin--tnerce, and Tourists, has received the folJowing cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, Bth April, 1911. (Note— Quotations,, unless otherwise stated, are average mai l:et prices on spot) : — - . _\lu!ton.— The market is depressed. Stock* of mutton on hand are heavy, bui consumption is increasing^ No change in. prices, viz. — Canterbury, 3jjd; North Island, 3£d per lb. Lamb — The market is firmer, and there is a better demand, although arrivals are heavy and stocks are accumulating. Canterbury, 4£d; other than Cantarbury, 4id, per lb. Ssef — There has been no alteration in, the bsef market since-last week, viz. — N.Z. binds, 4J,d; fores, 3|d per lb. Buttor— The market is firm for best quality. A dull market for second-class quality, of which present supplies exceed tiio requirements.- - Choicest , N.Z. butter, 108s ; Australian/ 102&1 Danish, 120s ; Siberian, 104s per' ewt. % Cheese — The market is very firm, and thero is a general and active demand. , K.Z cheese. 62s per <-s\t. Hemp. — The market is unchanged — viz., ,New ■ Zealand good fair, on spot, £20 ; fair "grade, £19 ss; fair current Manila, £18 15s^ per -ton. Forward shipment — ; New Zealand good fair; £20; fair grade, £19 6s; fair current Manila, £19. Tho output from Manila for the week was 51,000 bales. N.Z. beans, f.a.q., old crop, per quarter of 50*lbs, 345. Peas— Tha market is very quiet, and there is nothing doiner. N.Z. peas (partridge), per So4lbs, 425.
