Admiral Sir Assheton Curzon-Rowo, Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth, suffered a paralytic stroke at Portsmouth. He died without -recovering consciousness. [Admiral Curzon-Howe was born in 1850, being the youngest son of the j first Earl of Howe. He entered the Royal Navy in 1863 as a cadet. For a | time he commanded the Royal Yacht i Osbome. In succession, he w.as second j in command of the Channel Fleet, Com-mander-in-Chief of the China Squadron, the Channel Fleet, and the Mediterranean Fleot. Last year he was made Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth. For saving life he received the thanks of the Royal Humane Society in 1866.]
