THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Hospitality Committee of the Victoria League took place at Mre. Joseph Joseph's residence, G-raiit-road, yesterday, when the following ladies and gentlemen were present:—Mies Coates (in the chair), Mesdames Chatfield (secretary), L. Blundell, Algar Williams, Samuel, T. G. Macai-thy, Quick, C. Palmer, Larnach, Lewey, Dr. Martin, Re\c Mr. Moore. The Empire Musical Festival Committee was represented by Mr. J. G. W. Aitken, the chairman, and Mr. W. D. Gorham, secretary, and Dr. Harriss wa6 represented by Mr. Hugo Gorlitz. After 'Mrs. Chatfield had read a letter from the Auckland Branch of the Victoria League which stated that their Hospitality Committee had taken a-ction to provide hospitality for the members of the Sheffield Choir on the occasion of their visit next June, Mr. Gorlitz gave an address on the work done, and the work to be done in the interests of the Musical Reciprocity in the British Empire. Mr. Aitken also addressed the gathering advocating every possible cooperation in thk important movement, and after several ladies and gentlemen present had given their views, it waa unanimously decided to interest members and their friends in the cause and endeavour to entertain the 200 members (120 ladies and 80 gentlemen) in a manner worthy of the Dominion. It was also decided to hold a general meeting at the end of March for the same purpose, and in the meantime to do their best to interest membere and their friends by circular and personal application. The chairman and secretary of the Yorkshire Society were prevented from attending the meeting, but sent a message that they would be willing to cooperate.
