ASHSURTON SEAT.

POSSIBLE CANDIDATES. \ (B! TXLEGKAPH — SPECIAL TO THB PO3T.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. It would seem that there will be no lack of candidates for the AshburtoM, seat at the next general -election. Mr. Nosworthy, the sitting member, ' has definitely declared that he will be a candidate against all comers,' and MeE3TS. Henry Davis (Mayor of Ashbiirton), F. R. Flatman (ex-member for Geraldine), and John- M'Lachlan (prior to 1908 member for Ashbuxton arid a j very .well-known figure in the House of } Representatives) are spoken o* as being likely candidates in the Government interest. It ie> thought unlikely that a Labour candidate will contest the seat, but, on the other hand, it ha« been hinted that a supreme surprise for all • concerned' is in store.
