PRICE OF BREAD.
« The price of flour having been fairly low for some time past, a meeting cf Wellington Master Bakers will be held next week 'to discuss a proposed reduction in the present price of bread, 7d per four pound loaf.
Members of the City Council and heads of municipal departments paid their annual visit of inspection to Wainui waterworks to-day. Glorious weather prevailed, and the outing proved highly enjoyable. The party numbered about GO, and included the Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford) and a number of ladies. They left the Town Hall in cabs and drags shortly after 9. a.m., and arrived at the waterworks at 12.40 p.m. Luncheon was served in a. marquee erected for the purpose, and the Mayor welcomed the visitors with a few felicitous remarks. During the afternoon the party made an inspection of the Soloj mon's Knob dam and tho works, in connection therewith. At present a trench being dug m tho face on the eastern side of the dam, with a view ,to ascertaining the seat of a slight trouble, water having percolated through tho ' concrete.
