The weather was fine for the resumption of tho cricket match South Africa against New South Wales. There was an attendance of 10.200. With nine wkkete down for 415, New South "Wales resumed their innings on a wicket that was wearing well. Harvey, the wicket-keeper of the team, started well, but was bowled by Pegler when he had scored 11. the innings closing for 436. Pearse and Commaille opened for South Africa to the bowling of Minnett and Kelleway. At '4, Emery, in the slips, badly missed Pearse, off Minnett. In the next over Kelleway missed Commaille in the same position, and in the fourth over Massie repeated the mistake, while another ball went between two men. After giving four chances in four overs the batsmen settled down, and played carefully. They took sixty-five minutes to score 76. Emery was the most expensive bowler, and after a spell Minnett again bowled. Bardsley, in first slip in place of Massie, caught Commaille in Minnett's first over. Minnett followed this in the next over by bowling Faulkner, who hit the ball on to his wicket. At 54, Pearse, whose innings had been flukey, mis-hit Emery to Macartney at point, the ball being j held. The century appeared after 100 minutes' play. Snooke seemed confident, and with Nourse brightened the play somewhat, until he was brilliantly caught by Minnett in the slips off Kelleway at the fatal 13.
