PALMERSTON BAND CONTEST.

Arrangements are well in hand for 1 what is an event in local musical circles I ~a brass band contest, which is to open I in Palmerston North on Monday, 13th I February. Tho entries aro good, and, judging 'from the class of entrants, Palmeroton audionces will be treated to Homo excellent music. No less than twenty-two bands will take part in the official recoption on the A. and P. grounds, on tho Tuesday afternoon. A foaturo of the programme will be the grand military quickstep, which is set down for decision on the 15th insfc. Solo, trio, and quartette competitions are to proceed during all hours of the day. Special excursion fares will obtain on tha railways.
