ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
c EXPLOSION OF GELIGNITE. Christopher Seymour, a labourer, 31 years of age, had a hand and arm badly shattered through an explosion of gelignite at Ohariu Valley yesterday. His face and head were also injured. Seymour was out raJbbiting, and had put the charge into a burrow. Observing that it took a long time to explode, he went to investigate, and the charge blew off just as he arrived. The man is now making fair progress at the hospital, but he may lose one of his . hands. F. Andrews^ a steward on the Rakaia, fell on the deck yesterday and suffered slight concussion. He was taken to the hospital. la endeavouring to cross tho Jive in front of a tramcar on Saturday, George Howard Walters, a married man, 56 years of age, fell and broke his ankle, also dislocated a hip. He is now making good progress at the hospital. Walters, who is a carpenter, resides at 23, Sussex-square.
